As this is one of the town’s oldest traditions, we would still like to mark the occasion on Saturday 5th September 2020 in some way. To do this we are asking for the help of the wonderful people of Uckfield.
So on the night of Saturday 5th September 2020 we will be inviting the whole town to watch ‘Uckfield’s Virtual Carnival 2020’ on social media via our Facebook page. This will include the pictures of the town celebrating carnival, clips of previous carnival parades to build the atmosphere and then live streaming of the tradition bonfire prayers, led by Father John Wall from Holy Cross Church, the burning of banners and then a spectacular firework display.
Why not arrange something for the evening in your garden like a picnic or BBQ and raise a glass while watching.
As one of the big reasons the Uckfield Carnival takes place is to raise money to support local good causes so we will be running a JustGiving page for donations and, restrictions permitting, you might even see some strangely dressed people with collecting buckets in and around the town centre or chasing a lorry around some of the estates during the day on the 5th September.
Everyone at Uckfield Bonfire & Carnival Society hopes you stay safe and well and we look forward to entertaining you in a slightly different way this year. Let’s make it one to remember.
